‘Building Stories’ – writing interpretation for heritage projects

Learn how to craft engaging interpretation for your heritage projects. Whether you are an old hand, or new to heritage and want to share your ‘story’ with your visitors – or funders! – you’ll learn how to hone your tone, find the right tools for the job and become a master-text builder!

Through participating in creative activities, themed around ‘building’, you will gain the confidence and skills to write text that starts a conversation with your audiences. You’ll be sent our activity pack in the post, full of creative resources to use during the workshop, including a project ‘blueprint’ setting out the different stages to building good interpretive content and five activities exploring the who, why, and how to craft text.

Our experienced team will guide your group through the basics, giving you the tools to create your own meaningful outputs – be they boards, apps or posters.

Learning objectives

  • Introduction to the key principles of interpretive storytelling in heritage spaces
  • Identify what makes a good text (and avoid the pitfalls of bad examples!)
